A birth of a blog a.k.a Damn you Azmi!
Some people called it "the new generation of expressive media", some regards it as a mere trend that somehow will soon wither, just like Friendster, but for others, it is a portal of which they are trying to manifest their emotion, thoughts and experience in a form of a readable media, for the sake of sharing, promoting, cursing, or whatever reason it may be. It is the blog.
My first encounter with blog is in 2005, this was when Friendster is a hype, this was when i first had my campus crush, this was when Badawi is still PM, this was when i first used internet as a social bridge, being the alternative to the ever popular SMS. A very very avid computer gamers, typical of guys my age, I've been using the net to keep updated about this whole video games thing and one day I my friend post a comment on my friendster page. "hey dude, I make this one blog for games, come take a look!". Blog? waddaheck! this is big stuff! my friend has a blog.
So i checked it out, it is a very plain blog with very minimal photos, heck, most of them he copied from Google Image...the blog is in malay, and the first post he talked about Counter Strike, a good game but already a relic, he mentioned why he think it is the best game ever. Nobody made a comment or reply back but I guessed maybe he just published it. So I was the first reader to leave a comment, I wrote "yeah dude, very nice..a can see the reply pouring in! :p". I was being sarcastic, tried to gave him a subliminal message " come on...leave the blogging for someone who knows how to write..." simply said, you don't have the 'mojo' dude...
He took my sarcasm a bit too seriously, that night he complained about my comment to my roommate back then, Azmi. I laughed, why the heck does this guys so mad about? His blog sucks! Get real! I said to Azmi "man, if he got more than 100 comments on his blog I'll eat my shoe." We laughed all night..his blog really made a good topic to laugh about.
A day after the next day, I sat in front of a computer in library, not knowing what page else to open, I go to my friend's blog to see his progress. Expecting to see my comment to be the only one, I burst a tiny sinister laugh that soon enough, died in the middle of thin air.....a hundred comments in two days about Counter Strike in my friend's blog. I browsed through all of the comments, most of them were my friends but there were also some outsiders, sharing his same passion about the game, I was biting my lip when I was reading those comments until I stumbled upon the last comment, posted just 30 minutes before...it was from the author, "Anas, I hope those shoes taste good!". I said to myself "Damn you Azmi!".
